The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Respected figures in the Alsace wine scene, Sophie and Julien Schaal embody the new generation of talent, steadily rising to the top of the region’s rankings.

Alongside their joint projects, Sophie Schaal produces her own wines—strikingly honest, finely detailed, and precision-driven. A technically gifted winemaker with experience in Burgundy, she brings an ultra-focused approach to her vinifications, designed to preserve the pure flavor expression of the fruit. Her meticulous attention to detail lets each site speak clearly, brought to life through a confident, minimalist organic range that gives every grape variety its full identity.
Wine A blend of old vines aged in French oak, the 2023 Alsace Pinot Noir Red offers supple texture and an abundance of fruit flavors, led by bright notes of sour cherry that evoke a joyful, Burgundy-like character. On the palate, the wine shows impressive substance, with lively, tangy fruit and silky tannins. The oak is discreet, giving structure without overshadowing the freshness and finesse. Beautifully balanced, this is a standout expression of Pinot Noir—at a remarkably fair price. Rated 93/100 by Parker.
Vinification Hand harvested. The berries are carefully sorted and then fermented naturally. Aged in French oak barrels for 10 months.
