Wine:

A single-parcel selection from one of the oldest sites in the village of La Aguilera, at 890 metres altitude, the 2019 Ribera del Duero Canta la Perdiz Red is rooted in uniquely sandy and limestone-rich soils—an essential part of its power and singular identity. Crafted with meticulous care, the wine undergoes native-yeast fermentation in concrete vats, followed by 35 months of barrel aging. The result in this sun-drenched vintage is nothing short of exceptional: a bold, sculptural red, brimming with ripe dark fruit and spice, lifted by remarkable freshness. Its ultra-silky texture, beautifully integrated oak, and stunningly refined tannins give it both depth and allure. This is world-class winemaking—one of Ribera del Duero’s truly great cuvées. Rated 98/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, old vines on a 1.25-hectare plot at an altitude of 890 metres, 100% whole grape fermentation with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats, traditional foot treading, aged for 31 months in mainly French oak barrels in the estate's underground cellars. Unfiltered, unfined.
As these are very old Tempranillo vines, other local red and white varieties are also found, including 10% Cariñena and 10% Blanca del Pais, Garnacha, Bobal and Tempranillo Gris.

Color:

Intense, dark red, almost black, brilliant.

Nose:

Intensely fragrant with concentrated red and black fruit aromas underscored by a hint of spice.

Palate:

Juicy and delicate with delicate, silky tannins, this wine has a fresh, sunny character.

Temperature:

Serve at 14 to 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Filet de canard rosé, pièce de boeuf rôti à la broche, terrine de gibier au poivre.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2035
